Which type of rig should you choose?

There are two main types of drilling rigs: crawler type and truck mounted.

If you need to move at low speeds over uneven areas or very soft ground, you can choose a crawler drill. The stability of the rig depends on the surface area of the tracks. Therefore, the wider the tracks, the more stable the rig. But tracks that are too wide tend to wear out faster and break the ground when moving, especially when cornering. Crawler rigs travel around 4km/h and are therefore better suited for jobs that require very little travel.

Neither truck-mounted nor trailer-mounted rigs are autonomous in terms of movement or energy, which may come from a transport truck or a stand-alone generator. However, such rigs are much less expensive than crawler rigs.
